Our Bio
Sandy Cooper and Mary K. Tiller are writers who felt trapped by social media, believing it was the only way to grow their audience and share their work. Years of chasing the algorithm left them feeling anxious and exhausted, so they ditched their individual accounts in search of life-giving and sustainable alternatives. In 2023, they co-founded Writing Off Social, a movement for female Christian writers who want to grow and nurture their audience without social media. Through their top-rated podcast and their courses, they challenge the current cultural narrative and empower writers to discover alternative pathways that play to their strengths and yield a better ROI on their time, energy, and money.

Topics We Love to Talk About

How to Leave Social Media Without Regret
How to Leave Social Media Without Regret is an empowering and practical session designed for writers who are ready to step away from social media but fear what that might mean for their platform. We guide your writers through four foundational steps: shifting their mindset, identifying how they’ve used social media in the past, building a sustainable foundation (like an updated website and email list), and choosing alternative, life-giving pathways for audience growth. Rooted in personal experience and industry insight, this talk offers both encouragement and actionable strategies—showing writers that it’s not only possible to leave social media, but that doing so can lead to deeper impact and creative freedom.
How to Build an Author Platform Without Using Social Media
In this session, we explore the idea that social media is not the only, nor the best, path to audience growth. We offer a strategic, life-giving alternative by identifying the four core goals writers often pursue on social media, and presenting 10 proven alternative pathways to meet those same goals. The session is practical and interactive, culminating in a personalized quiz that helps your writers identify which alternative methods align with their unique strengths and goals, encouraging a sustainable, personalized approach to platform-building without the algorithmic stress.

Balanced Productivity For Writers
This session helps writers take a holistic approach to productivity by focusing not just on goal-setting but on overcoming four common roadblocks: lack of clarity, busyness, lack of energy, and disorganization. Using humor, storytelling, and practical tools, we guide your writers through identifying their true priorities, constructing their own “to-don’t” list, supporting their physical and emotional health, and crafting a realistic 90-day plan. The session combines strategy with soul, emphasizing that while productivity is valuable, it should serve your life and creative calling—not dominate it.
