Ep. 96 | How I Built My Readership Outside of Social Media w/Rachel Allord

What would it feel like to stop chasing an audience and start trusting that faithful work in small places is enough? Our guest today, Rachel Allord, has lived that question for over twenty years — through freelance writing, missionary life in London, and eventually a book deal. Her story is a permission slip for every writer who’s tired of performing, and a beautiful reminder of the difference between ambition and calling. This week, we’re discussing what it looks like to write with a missional mindset and let God grow the audience. Listen in!

Tune in to Hear:

  • How Rachel went from writing curriculum and ministry resources to landing a traditional book contract
  • Why she felt compelled to release her writing dreams when she moved to the mission field
  • The honest truth about why “start small” is the last advice writers want to hear — and why it’s exactly right
  • How freelance writing for MOPS (now The MomCo), Our Daily Bread, and Chicken Soup for the Soul shaped her craft
  • Why she believes writers don’t determine their own authority or expertise, and who she thinks should be doing that instead

More About Rachel Allord:

Originally from Wisconsin, Rachel Allord lives and writes in London UK where she and her husband serve as city missionaries. In addition to creating curriculum and ministry resources, she’s authored several books including The Addie Brown Books, a YA series published through 10ofthose. She adores reading, writing, and discussing beautiful stories. Discover more at  rachelallord.com and Instagram.
